Sanctum Spaces was created early one morning during the period of time we now call 'lock down' . I realised that this seemingly forced stay in my own home was actually quite comforting as it felt like a safe space, a sanctuary.
Let me just put a little bit of context around this; It was late 2019 and I was in the hustle and bustle of London, working on a project in the Greenwich Design Quarter on the Peninsula, enjoying the work and loving London. By early 2020 the mood was starting to change, and my enjoyment of having to be in the capital was dropping alongside the numbers on the transport network. I was still going to work whilst everyone else seemed to be safe in their spaces. I was locked in London, empty streets and far from home.
Sitting in bed, gazing into social media, uplifted by the realisation that we were actually spending more time in the thing that costs us the most, our homes. Fascinated by the projects people were now undertaking, amazed by this new found love for our surroundings.
I was now sat in my sanctum, this was my space and I liked it.
